PUTRAJAYA 11 Nov. - Kementerian Pelajaran tidak bersetuju dengan kaedah penggunaan klip video 'Sajak Kematian' di sekolah-sekolah kerana ia tidak sesuai dengan tahap umur murid-murid yang terlalu muda.
Sehubungan itu, Menterinya, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein berkata, pihaknya telah mengarahkan pegawai-pegawai kementerian agar membuat siasatan tentang klip video tersebut.
"Saya sungguh tidak bersetuju kerana kita hendak mendidik mesti secara berhemah dan pendekatan yang menakut-nakutkan lebih-lebih lagi terhadap anak-anak yang usianya cukup muda, saya rasa ia tidak akan membawa manfaat.
"Saya secara peribadi tidak setuju tetapi sebenarnya penolakan (klip video) itu datang daripada ibu bapa sendiri," katanya kepada pemberita selepas merasmikan Program Pertukaran Pelajar ASEAN (ASEP) 2008 di Sekolah Sultan Alam Shah di sini hari ini.
Beliau mengulas laporan media mengenai penggunaan klip video 'Sajak Kematian' di sekolah yang antara lain memaparkan babak seksaan sakaratul maut selepas jenazah dikebumikan.
Bagaimanapun timbul persoalan yang dibimbangi akan menjejaskan akidah apabila klip video tersebut memaparkan gambaran tentang perkara yang berlaku di alam ghaib.
Hadir sama ialah Ketua Setiausaha Kementerian, Tan Sri Dr. Zulkurnain Awang dan Ketua Pengarah Pelajaran, Datuk Alimuddin Mohd. Dom.
Dalam pada itu Hishammuddin berkata, pihaknya memberi jaminan bahawa masalah kadar yuran pada penggal persekolahan tahun depan tidak akan berbangkit lagi sebagaimana yang berlaku sebelum ini.
Menurutnya, satu jawatankuasa khas yang dipengerusikan oleh beliau akan meneliti semua perkara berkaitan penggal persekolahan baru tahun depan termasuk isu yuran dan jadual waktu.
Beliau menjelaskan, pihaknya akan membuat beberapa pengumuman mengenai isu-isu berkaitan penggal persekolahan baru nanti.
''Saya yakin tidak akan timbul masalah dan yuran tambahan, ia bukan suatu yang wajib sebaliknya ada kaitan dengan Persatuan Ibu Bapa dan Guru (PIBG).
''Sebelum ini yang timbul berpunca daripada salah tanggapan dan kita sudah berbincang serta menyelesaikan masalah tersebut," katanya.

The English Language
Have you ever wondered why foreigners have trouble with the English Language?
Let's face it
English is a stupid language.
There is no egg in the eggplant
No ham in the hamburger
And neither pine nor apple in the pineapple.
English muffins were not invented in England
French fries were not invented in France.
We sometimes take English for granted
But if we examine its paradoxes we find that
Quicksand takes you down slowly
Boxing rings are square
And a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig.
If writers write, how come fingers don't fing.
If the plural of tooth is teeth
Shouldn't the plural of phone booth be phone beeth
If the teacher taught,
Why didn't the preacher praught.
If a vegetarian eats vegetables
What the heck does a humanitarian eat!?
Why do people recite at a play
Yet play at a recital?
Park on driveways and
Drive on parkways
You have to marvel at the unique lunacy
Of a language where a house can burn up as
It burns down
And in which you fill in a form
By filling it out
And a bell is only heard once it goes!
English was invented by people, not computers
And it reflects the creativity of the human race
(Which of course isn't a race at all)
That is why
When the stars are out they are visible
But when the lights are out they are invisible
And why it is that when I wind up my watch
It starts
But when I wind up this observation,
It ends.
